Installations:  Clay & Dyed Cloth As Sculpture

My Work

My art concept is place.  I'm inspired by "The Blues" as an art form growing up on "The Blues Trail" in Coastal North Carolina on the old "Chittlin' Circuit."  Indigo dyeing is a healing medicine shared with me since childhood from my mother, two grandmothers and two great-grandmothers.  My current art practice is a promise that I made to my dying mother to tell my families stories of survival, love, lost and joy through our creative hands experiences of dyeing cloth and stitching.  Our stories are about the land of Coastal Carolina and our deep rooted connections to it from our Algonquin ancestors.
